No real crafting time for me this week, as preparation for the weekend's LARP event is taking up a lot of my time! But I have got time to show you something currently in progress for this weekend.
Henna tattoos! I made the somewhat ridiculous decision last year, that my new character would have tattoos in elvish script running down both forearms. I spent a lot of time working out what they should say, and finding a program on the net that would translate them into proper Tolkien Elvish script. The converter I used is here. I also used this website to help me understand the Elvish script properly.
I am very lucky to have a kind and understanding boyfriend who is willing to spend what seems like hours painstakingly applying the henna to my arms (a very uncomfortable process, as I end up twisted around in all sorts of uncomfortable positions).
The right arm is the name of my group, Port Reybard Dockers. The left arm is something of a LARP in-joke, as the phrase translates to Your Phys Rep Is Unacceptable. My friends know the translation, but most others at the game don't, and we have a small chuckle whenever we see others in rubbish kit, and gesture knowingly at my arm.
For other, more yarn related WIPs, Tami's got the list of today's posts!
I had to go look up what a LARP is . . .Sounds like fun! And the henna tattoos look amazing. Have a good weekend!
ReplyDeleteOMGosh; talk about hardcore. The henna tats are cool!
ReplyDeleteThose look really good. I am a huge fan of henna tats :)
ReplyDeleteThat looks great!!!
ReplyDeleteI've only ever gotten henna tats at the renaissance faire but I can't tell you how many times I've been tempted to pick up a pack and do it to myself at home.
I don't think mine would turn out even remotely as good as yours did -- your bf did an awesome job.
You are fabulously hard-core and it is awesome!!! I don't know the etiquette of such events, but are you able to take pictures either before or after? I am now dying to see costumes etc.

ReplyDeleteAwesome, your boyfriend is incredibly good at that. Every time I've tried painting henna tattoos I've always smudged them... And have fun at your LARP event.
